Over half a century ago, Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein issued a plea to the people of the world to face the fact that we have a choice that is “stark and dreadful and inescapable: Shall we put an end to the human race; or shall mankind renounce war?” The threats are increasing in severity. Europe is uniquely well-placed to undertake the historic mission of saving the human race from self-destruction.
